And that was it. No explanation of the source. No context. No control options. Just an evasive corporate phrase — and the feeling of being watched by a machine that can’t be bothered to explain why.

The Problem Isn’t the “What,” But the “How”

The discomfort doesn’t come necessarily from Amazon knowing the user studies nursing. In 2026, we know companies collect purchase data, searches, browsing history, usage patterns. We accept (with varying degrees of enthusiasm) that personalization is the internet’s business model.

The real problem is the lack of transparency at the moment of interaction.

What AI did: gave a vague, corporate response. What the user felt: privacy invasion and constant surveillance.
